Yucca Valley Planning Commission reviewed single-family events in residential districts and Old Town beautification

At last night’s meeting, the Planning Commission reviewed a request from Storage Solutions at 6625 Prescott Avenue to change the color of the garage doors from blue to Apple Lime Cocktail. The Council is concerned with the amount of Green that would be seen from the Highway and asked the representative to come back with alternate ideas. This item will be continued on December 12. Next, the Council reviewed Temporary Special Events in single-family residential zoning districts and approved the code amendment to accommodate this change to zoning with specified requirements.

The Council also reviewed Old Town Beautification plans and budget. The Plans include a Monument sign, shade structures, 8 EV stations, landscaping, parking areas, a dog park, additional maintenance, and event space. The budget is 3.7 million. Staff said they would begin with phase one and reapply for a grant to complete the second phase.

During the Land Development update, staff said a land use permit has been submitted for a bar and grill, multifamily, and multi-use facility. One bidder for the Recreational Center came in around 9 million dollars over the construction cost. Staff is considering turning down the bidder and rebidding. This item will be brought up for approval at the Town Council’s next meeting.
