YUCCA VALLEY PLANNING COMMISSION TO SET STAND ALONE MURAL REGULATIONS

In a shortened session, the Yucca Valley Planning Commission heard staff recommendations and approved a decision on existing mural regulations. The Commissioners also reviewed a permit request for a front setback on a single-family dwelling on Navajo Trail. Reporter Hilary Sloane will tell you about the meeting…

With only two items on the agenda, the Commissioners approved removing a section of the sign ordinance and proposed that murals will now stand alone. The changes allow for flexibility. Design regulations and the number of murals will be decided in the future.

The applicant seeking a permit for a front setback asked for a continuance until the next meeting. The request was granted.

In future business, Staff will work on cleaning up abandoned and temporary signs along the highway. Additionally discussed was the status of granting permits when the western Joshua tree was on the property. The town staff is working with an arborist to establish best practices for groundbreaking activity. A western Joshua tree Take is still prohibited.

The meeting ended at 7:00.
