Yucca Valley Planning Commission appoints new Chairman positions – movie theater has sold

At last night’s Yucca Valley Planning Commission meeting, Chairman James Henderson nominated Councilman Clint Stoker as the new Chairman. Mathew Thomas appointed Gerard Noonan as Vice Chair. The Planning Commission also reviewed the exterior color change permit and revised Carl’s Jr building signage.

The Planning Commission questioned the bright exterior red color and illuminated metal corrugated signage projecting above the roofline of the existing Carl’s Junior proposed for renovation. Since the proposed changes are not in keeping with the Town’s Design ordinance, a motion was made for Carl’s Junior design staff to work with Town Staff and resubmit the permit.

In the Land Update Report, Nice Dreams Ices is working its way through minor revisions, and High Desert Times, the Wine and Rock Shop, and Blue Star RV are progressing. Grading is underway for the Quick Quack Car Wash, and Staff provided a 30-day review letter to Starbucks West. There are fifty-eight open vacation rental permits at this time.

Lastly, Vice Chair Noonan asked if there was news about the movie theater. Staff said the theater has sold, but this is the only information available now.
