Yucca Valley Aquatics and Recreation Center discussed in special session

Members of the Yucca Valley Town Council met with Kevin Wilhelm, Sr Vice President of the GNU Group, to review names and visual branding for the new Aquatics Center. GNU, experts in building and campus branding, wayfinding, and signage programs, is working with the Town Council and HMC Architects to present a short list of 10 names.

The accelerated process began on September 22 and will tie into the architectural timeline. Although a questionnaire yielded nine options, it did not produce one definitive choice, but the name most favored is the Yucca Valley Aquatics and Recreation Center.

The Center may also be known as the Yucca Valley ARC or YV-ARC. Additional signage includes environmental signage (inside the building) and signage leading to the complex. HMC will present the final drawings to Council at the Tuesday, November 15 meeting. GNU’s presentation will follow in 3 to 4 weeks.

The Oasis, the Well, Central PARC, the Hub, Thrive, The Zone, and Mosaic were the name options.

All Council members agreed on giving name recognition to California State Assemblyman Chad Mayes, who secured the grant funds included in Prop 68.
