An Arizona woman was arrested yesterday on suspicion of murder related to the 2021 overdose death of a Yucca Valley man. The arrest occurred yesterday (February 23), nearly two years after the death of Marshall Luppke, a 22 year-old resident of Yucca Valley. On March 14, 2021, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department responded to a house in in the 55200 block of Airlane Drive in Yucca Valley where they found Luppke dead from an apparent overdose.

The County Sheriff’s Gangs/Narcotics Division’s Overdose Response Team (ORT) led an investigation that identified Alicia Hegarty, a 47 year-old resident of Sierra Vista Arizona, as the person who provided the drugs to Luppke. Their investigation, along with results from Luppke’s autopsy, were presented to the County District Attorney’s office, and Sheriff’s Deputies, working with the United States Marshals Service, were able to locate and arrest Hegarty in Sierra Vista.

Alicia Hegarty was arrested for suspicion of Drug Overdose Murder and is being held on $1,000,000 bail and will face extradition proceedings in Arizona prior to being extradited to San Bernardino County.
