WITH PLANNED 29 PALMS POWER OUTAGES THIS WEEK, COOLING CENTER OPENED

With multiple planned maintenance power outages by Southern California Edison expected in Twentynine Palms this week (July 18-July 22), the Senior Center will be open to the public as a cooling center. The center will open from 12:30 pm to 5 pm.

Attendees will be required to wear masks at all times when in the cooling center. Households that will be affected should have received notifications from Southern California Edison. If you did not receive a notice you can call SCE at 1-800-611-1911 Ext. 3 or go to https://www.sce.com/outage-center/check-outage-status for more information or to check status.

The Senior Center is climate controlled and equipped with a backup generator. Water will be available, there is no food service. NO PETS are allowed inside the building, for pets and animal information contact Palms and Paws Animal Shelter at 760-367-0157. During hot weather, seniors, infants, young children, and people with chronic health conditions are most vulnerable to health problems and should take extra precautions. Everyone is advised to drink plenty of fluids, wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing, and pace themselves when outdoors. Limit outdoor activity to early morning or evening hours.
