Directors at Yucca Valley’s Hi-Desert Water District meet in regular session at 4 o’clock today (August 21, 2024). Down the road in Joshua Tree, the Joshua Basin Water District board meets at 5:30 p.m.
Directors at the Hi-Desert Water District will hold public hearings in connection with increased water and sewer service charges. If approved, as expected, some of the increases will be seen in coming property tax bills. Today’s meeting takes place at the district office on the highway at Inca Trail.
Moving East toward Joshua Tree, the Joshua Basin Water District directors are expected to write off just over one hundred thousand dollars in bad debt from fiscal 2023-24. That figure is well in excess of roughly $20,000 in bad debt write offs normally seen. The agency will also consider use of a collection agency in recovering future bad debt. The meeting takes place at the District Office on Chollita Road in Joshua Tree.
