Volunteer your skills at the Friends of the Yucca Valley Library, meeting Saturday morning

If you’ve been interested in volunteering your time and skills to a worthy cause here in the Morongo basin – the Friends of the Yucca Valley Library are holding a meeting tomorrow morning  where you can learn about how your small actions can have big benefits for the local non-profit.

The Friends of the Yucca Valley Library invite you to an informal meeting on Saturday – from 10am – 11am – to learn about “microvolunteering” – that’s helping out with smaller, individual tasks that will support library programs, projects, and purchases.

For instance – if you are a writer, they need help publishing an online newsletter. Tech savvy? Help with their website, or grab your phone and shoot some videos for the non-profit. Social media work, graphic design, and even book delivery are all things the non-profit can use help with, and most of these can be worked on at home and on a flexible schedule.

For many people – volunteering at a non-profit gives us access to our broader community while doing something that helps others, and makes us feel good too.

If you are interested in lending your skills to the friends of the yucca valley library – swing by the Yucca Valley branch from 10 to 11am tomorrow – they’ll have donuts and info.

From the Friends of the Yucca Valley Library:

•     Ever want to be a writer? The Friends need someone to publish and distribute our newsletter online.
•     YouTube addict? Create short videos for our Facebook page. Tik Tok and Instagram your heart out! Could the Friends be YouTube stars, too?
•     Fancy yourself a graphic artist? Design flyers to print and post on social media!
•     Addicted to social media? So are the Friends! Keep us up to date on sites such as Facebook, Nextdoor, and Instagram.
•     Do you wear your “Computer Nerd” badge proudly? We have a website that needs tending and updating. Zoom our meetings for us.
•     People person? You’re in charge of membership recruitment, including a spreadsheet list, email contact—whatever you need others!
•     Always wanted to work for UPS? Fire up your GPS to deliver boxes of books to the hospital, continuing care facilities, nursing homes, senior centers.

We have the free fingerprinting vouchers ready to sign you up now!

Contact Cheyenne at [email protected] if you can come on September 23rd.

If you want to volunteer but this time doesn’t suit you, come to our board meeting from 2pm-3pm on Wednesday, September 27, in the library’s Program Room and attend an orientation from 3pm – 4pm that day.
