Established in 1994 and held annually on the fourth Saturday in September, National Public Lands Day is traditionally the nation’s largest single-day volunteer effort.
We are lucky enough to have public lands surrounding us, and the Joshua Tree National park is holding a service project to celebrate.
Volunteers will perform roadside beautification in the heart of the park by clearing brush from the roadsides and laying rocks along the road. This work involves hiking, lifting, and repeated bending. The project will begin at 7:30 am and end at approximately 12 pm on Saturday, 9/23.
Participation is limited, so folks should sign up early – the park is asking for volunteers to apply by September 16th – you can sign up at this link.
