On Monday the 16th the Onaga Trail Pedestrian Improvement Project kicked off. The Town of Yucca Valley has committed to upgrading the stretch of road for pedestrian safety purposes while complying with the Americans with Disabilities Act, and will include the creation sidewalks with ramps and gutters. Construction has begun on the first part of the Onaga Trail project, which will see work being done between Acoma Trail and Grand Ave.

A similar pedestrian improvement project on Little League Drive between Palm and Sage ave is scheduled to begin on January 3, 2023.

The project consists of constructing curbs and gutters, sidewalks on the south side of Little League, handicap ramps, driveways and roadway signing and striping. In addition, Little League Drive will terminate into a mid-block cul-de-sac at approximately the Boys and Girls Club entrance, improving pedestrian crossing and safety between the north and south sides of the recreational complex.

A majority of the work will occur on the roadway’s south side, and if a road already has curbs and gutters, it t be widened. However, curb ramps at the intersections may need to be installed and potentially retrofitted.

Work is scheduled to begin on January 3 in the new year.
