TWO MORONGO BASIN RESIDENTS ARRESTED ON MULTIPLE WARRANTS FOLLOWING PURSUIT WITH DEPUTIES

Two Morongo Basin residents were arrested Sunday (July 18) on multiple sheriff’s warrants following a vehicle and foot pursuit with deputies. According to Sheriff’s reports, deputies attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle in Landers for not having a front windshield. The driver and passenger, later identified as Roy Owen, 35, of Landers and Sonia Zink-Bitcon, 29 of Twentynine Palms failed to yield and led deputies on a pursuit for nearly 2.5 miles. Owen and Zink-Bitcon were apprehended by deputies after an approximate one-mile foot pursuit.

He was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail where he is being held without bail. Sonia Zink-Bitcon was arrested for investigation of being an accessory to a crime and on a $50,000 warrant for possession of methamphetamine. She was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with her bail set at $75,000.
