Sheriff’s say that a three car accident that closed eastbound traffic and left one woman unconscious on Highway 62 Thursday afternoon was caused by a driver suspected to be under the influence of drugs.
County Sheriffs say that Mariano Conti, a resident of Lakeway, Texas, ran through the red light at Highway 62 and Warren Vista in Yucca Valley at around 2:45 p.m., colliding with two other cars and injuring two people.
A sheriff’s report says that one of the other drivers was found unconscious having suffered from a laceration on her head and that there was “lots of blood.” Sheriff’s say she was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center. Sheriff’s say that the third driver, an unidentified male, suffered injuries to the neck and shoulder. According to sheriffs, Conti was arrested at the scene for suspicion of felony driving under the influence of drugs and causing great bodily injury. Mariano Conti was booked at the West Valley Detention Center and is being held on $100,000 bail.
