TWO ARRESTED AFTER A FIGHT IN JOSHUA TREE

Two people were arrested Tuesday evening following a fight in Joshua Tree. According to a Sheriff’s report, witnesses called deputies about 6 p.m. to report that a man was beating a screaming woman in the 62100 block of Verbena Road, banging her head on a car and punching her in the face. The witness then said the man, later identified as Pedro Sanchez, 26, of Perris, pushed the woman, Rachel Petrie, 26, of Joshua Tree, into a car and took off north on Sunburst. Deputies located the car about an hour later near Hillview Road and Division Street. Petrie had red marks on her neck and dried blood on her head and arms, but she was uncooperative with deputies. Rachel Petrie was arrested on a warrant from 2014 for child abandonment and four other warrants, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, with her total bail set at $65,000. Her companion, Pedro Sanchez was arrested for investigation of felony spouse abuse, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $50,000.
