A Twentynine Palms woman was accused of brandishing a firearm and firing a shot after an argument Saturday afternoon. San Bernardino Sheriff’s investigators say Saturday, June 4 at about 2:00 p.m., Deputies responded to a report of a disturbance in the 6000 Block of Mesquite Springs Road.
Deputies arrived and made contact with a sixty-year-old female victim. Their investigation revealed that Deborah Jeann Leader, 63 had brandished a firearm with threats to cause harm to the victim. Immediately following, the victim heard a gunshot, fled from the location and called for help. The responding deputies contacted Leader at her home and located the firearm used during the altercation.
A search warrant was issued, and additional ammunition and illegal narcotics were located inside the home. Deputies conducted a welfare check with nearby residents to ensure public safety for the unaccounted fired round. No additional victims were located. Deborah Leader was arrested and booked at the West Valley Detention Center for investigation of assault with a deadly weapon. Her bail was set at $50.000.00.
