Twentynine Palms Water District monthly meeting recap

The Twentynine Palms Water District held their monthly meeting yesterday and discussed the adoption of an ordinance to update the District Groundwater Management Plan.

With no participation from the Public during the public hearing, the Board moved to adopt ordinance #104 to update the groundwater management plan. The previous update was approved in 2001 and has remained unchanged except for two minor updates in 2008 and 2014. This current update will supersede the previous ordinances.

Resolution #25-05 was approved to adopt a revised purchasing authority policy. The maximum amount approved for purchase has been raised from $25,000 to $75,000. Any allocation over $1,000 must receive three separate bids for consideration before the requested purchase amount can be approved.

Resolution 25-06 was considered , declaring certain water district property as surplus. Most of this property is IT items, including computers and copiers, all of which have had their hard drives removed. The Board authorized disposing of these items either by sale or via legal disposal channels.

A draft for the annual budget for fiscal year 2025-26 was presented and discussed at length. No changes were suggested and the Budget will be presented at the next meeting for approval.

The Twentynine Palms Water District is expanding its territory by 40 acres, as a new meter will be installed and a house built on the annexed property just north of Dick Dale’s boundary line.

The Maintenance, water quality and finance reports were presented, followed by the General Manager’s report.
