Twentynine Palms Planning Commission Hosts Four Public Hearings Tonight

It’s ‘Bottom’s Up!’ at tonight’s Twentynine Palms Planning Commission meeting where four public hearings will take place, the majority concerning the sale of alcohol.

Tonight, the Twentynine Palms Planning Commission will host four public hearings. The first pertains to a construction oversight that occurred in 1966, when a home addition at 73457 Cactus Drive encroached on a neighboring lot at 6627 Split Rock Avenue. The variance request aims to alter current property lines to address the imbalance.

The second hearing concerns a Conditional Use Permit application submitted by Bisram Hospitality for a private event space to include the sale of alcohol. The commercial building, located at 71845 Twentynine Palms Highway, is a 1,600-square foot structure (and patio area) currently being refurbished. The property is slated for use by patrons of two adjacent hotels, Americas Best Value and Oasis Inn. Again, booze is the issue, with the third hearing about a request to add alcohol selections to a café menu. The café, Desert Days and Desert Nights, is located at 73980 Twentynine Palms Highway. Finally, the commission will consider an application for a Conditional Use Permit for the establishment of a retail liquor store at 73493 Twentynine Palms Highway, next to Campbell Hill Bakery, and the site of a former church.

The meeting takes place on Tuesday, September 6, and begins at 5:00 p.m. at City Hall, 6136 Adobe Road, and can be livestreamed or viewed on-demand via the city’s website, 29palms.org.
