After a nine-year hiatus, Twentynine Palms High School is bringing back their Hall of Fame program with three grads set to be inducted this Friday (5/16). The Hall of Fame began in 1991 with six inductees and has since grown to 32 total inductees. The last induction was in 2016, with Larry Bowden being the most recent honoree. Due to the impact of COVID, the Hall of Fame was put on hold, but the school is excited to bring it back this year and plans to hold an induction every other year. The ceremony is set for 9:00am on Friday morning, the event is not open to the public, it’s a small reception for inductees with family.
Twentynine Palms High School Activities director Shannon Shay said to qualify for induction into the Hall of Fame, candidates must be graduates of Twentynine Palms High School, serve as a role model for students, graduated at least 5 years ago, (unless there are unusual or extenuating circumstances) and be willing to attend the induction ceremony, unless the award is posthumous.
