Twentynine Palms City Council ponders a pay raise tonight

When outgoing Mayor Pro-Tem Joel Klink signed off in his final meeting on December 10, 2024, he requested a pay increase for the council. Since December 10, 2002, members of the council have received $465 per month for fulfilling their duties.

Tonight, council will consider an ordinance to increase that amount – the only item on the agenda.

State standards deem that cities with populations less than 35,000 provide city council members with a monthly salary of $950. The proposed ordinance would raise council salaries to meet this standard. Twentynine Palms current population is approximately 27,000 to 28,000.

The council meeting takes place on Tuesday, March 10, at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall. It can be livestreamed or viewed on-demand.
