The Twentynine Palms City Council will meet tonight to review issues relating to tourism, redevelopment, and the city’s future.
The council will discuss supporting Rancho Cucamonga’s resolution around online sales tax equity at the 2021 Cal Cities Annual Conference and Expo General Assembly in Sacramento later this month.
Regarding the Tourism Business Improvement District, the council will discuss an intention to levy an assessment on nightly hotel room rates for Fiscal Year 2021-2022 and also review TBIDs’ annual marketing plan and budget.
The Project Phoenix City Council Subcommittee will recommend to the council that Yucca Avenue be renamed “Freedom Way” and that the new plaza within the project area be named “Freedom Plaza.”
The council will likely authorize City Manager Frank Luckino to negotiate and engage with Holt Architecture for the design of the new pool at Luckie Park, not to exceed $276,306.
Finally, the council will discuss a special service review that includes the Twentynine Palms Water District, the Twentynine Palms Public Cemetery District, and the city itself.
The meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall, 6136 Adobe Road. The event will also be livestreamed and provided on-demand via the city’s website at 29palms.org.
