TWENTYNINE PALMS CITY COUNCIL FACES FULL AGENDA

Tonight, the Twentynine Palms City Council will meet to tackle issues facing the city, including VHR fees, budget revisions, the Luckie Park pool and shopping carts.

The Twentynine Palms City Council meets tonight to consider a number of issues, mostly financial.

That council will discuss proposed amendments to the city’s Master Fee Schedule. The amendments have been in use of the last two years and pertains to wastewater, animal control, parks and recreation, planning, and law enforcement.

The Council will consider a grant submission to CalTrans for new walking/biking shoulders along Hatch Road and Sullivan Road. Likely, the Council will then award the contract to Urban Habitat for construction of the Twentynine Palms Channel Trail. Also, several contracts totaling more the $2.1 million for the rehab of the Luckie Park pool will be reviewed and discussed.

The Council will also consider a resolution that would conclude the LAFCO special service review that includes Twentynine Palms, the Twentynine Palms Water District and the Twentynine Palms Public Cemetery District.

The agenda includes proposed budget revisions for the General Fund for Fiscal Year 2022-23 that include two inter-fund transfers, and also proposed budget revisions for Project Phoenix Funds for the same period.

And finally, the Council will brainstorm ways to reduce the unsightly problem of abandoned shopping carts.
