Troy Reynolds returns to court on Friday in hit and run case from January that killed a Yucca Valley teenager

A truck belonging to Troy Reynolds and matching the description of the vehicle involved with the hit and run was found at a body shop in Riverside County during the search for the driver who struck the teenager and left him in the median of Highway 62.

Troy Dean Reynolds, the suspect in a hit-and-run collision that resulted in the death of Yucca Valley teenager Joshua Barreras, is scheduled to return to court on Friday morning for an Early Disposition Hearing. Reynolds is accused of striking the victim with a truck and fleeing the scene on the evening of January 26. Sheriff’s deputies found Barreras lying unresponsive in the center median of Twentynine Palms Highway, near the intersection at Avalon Ave.; he was pronounced deceased at the Hi-Desert Medical Center that night.

Reynolds’ last court hearing was eight weeks ago, on October 9. While the hearing resulted in a continuance, the case was referred to Probation for Pre-Plea and Pre-Sentence Reports.

Troy Reynolds is charged with Felony Hit and Run Resulting in Permanent Injury or Death; he is currently out on $500,000 bail.
