The Trojans football team almost took home the win versus Coachella Valley on Friday Night – the Might Arabs squeaked past the Trojans for a final score of 39-40.
With over 550 yards of offense, and several lead changes throughout the fourth quarter, the Trojans tried hard – but couldn;t punch in the two point conversion for the win.
“Coachella Valley may be the best team in the area and we lost to them by one point. – Coach Johnson said. He reiterated how proud he was of the team, and how well they respond to different situations.
He stated “This game will make us better moving forward in our goal to make the playoffs.”
- Offensively, Stephon Rogers had 229 yards rushing and two touchdowns.
- Myles Harper had 206 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
- Javin Hudson and Landon Stitt each snagged a touchdown catch.
- Michael Ramos threw for 303 yards and launched 4 touchdown passes.
The defensive leaders this week were Myles Harper, David Gutierrez, Javin Hudson, Paul Cole, and Player of the game Joseph Natzel who had nine tackles in the game and 33 tackles of the season – which is outstanding for a defensive lineman.
The Trojans will travel to Indio this week. The JV will play on Thursday and will kickoff at 4 pm. The Varsity will play on Friday at 7.
In Wildcat’s football – The Varsity wildcats came up empty vs the Rajahs 23-0 on Friday night but the JV team were looking to continue their win streak, but ended in a tie 22-22 on Friday.
The JV Wildcats were down 8-6 at halftime, but the offense rallied and scored 16 straight points in the 2nd half.
Great offensive efforts came from Kelli Corney, Antwone Wilson, Kahiry lee, Zak Arwick, Jaden McNealy, and the line. The defense stayed tough all night and played hard until the final whistle.
The cats will face Coachella Valley @ home Friday the 7th.
