Tortoise Week starts on Monday, events all around hi and low desert

Monday is the start of Desert Tortoise Week – 7 full days or learning about and appreciating one of our most iconic desert species. 

All throughout the hi and low desert, you can find a treasure trove of tortoise activities that will educate you and spread support for this charismatic and inscrutable reptile.

Starting Monday, October 1st – There will be a Tortoise Table at Joshua Tree National Park Cultural Center Daily from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm (PDT) 

Drop in to join park staff for information, presentations, and tortoise themed activities including the famous “Wheel of Tortoise.” 

On October 5th and 7th at 7pm park staff will be giving a 45-min presentation about tortoises along with a ranger talk at the beautiful Indian Cove Amphitheater, located near campsite #40.
