Tonight’s Yucca Valley Town Council meeting: Oversight Commission applicants, partnership funds, and street vendors

Following a public hearing on the Aztec Mobile Homes Conduit Financing, the Town of Yucca Valley plans to move ahead with the Aquatics and Recreation Center project.

At tonight’s meeting, the Town Council will review several resolutions related to the project and plans to award the construction contract to Robert Clapper Construction Services, Inc., of Rialto. The Town Council will also review several matters related to Measure Y funds.

The Town Council will consider the submitted applications for the Revenue Measure Oversight Commission, after which they will recommend one applicant’s appointment for one year of service from now through next April. Formed in 2021, the Revenue Measure Oversight Commission is an opportunity for community members to have a say in fund distribution.

The Town Council will also approve allocations for the Measure Y Partnership Funds totaling $100,000 and direct staff to incorporate funding for Public Art and Homelessness partnership programs for the 2024 through 2026 fiscal year budget.

Lastly, the Town Council will receive a report on sidewalk and street vendors. Town Staff surveyed neighboring jurisdictions regarding their regulations on vendors and food trucks; the Town Council will review their findings and consider the general standards that would be necessary should Yucca Valley choose to adopt a new policy in the future.

Tonight’s meeting is open to the public and begins at 6 p.m. at the Yucca Valley Community Center.

It can also be attended online here.
