We have additional information regarding a multi-vehicle traffic collision that hospitalized two people in Twentynine Palms Wednesday morning (September 15). According to Sheriff’s reports, Deputies responded to the intersection of Lear Ave. and Twentynine Palms Highway just before 9:30 a.m. for reports of a multi-vehicle collision. Arriving deputies determined that a green Toyota driven by David Carlisle, 59, with passenger Noela Vasquez, 52 (both of Desert Hot Springs), was traveling east on Highway 62 approaching Lear Avenue. Meanwhile, a white Ford Explorer driven by Victoria Pinilla, 27, of Twentynine Palms, was traveling north on Lear Ave., turning left at the intersection. Investigators believe Carlisle ran the red light, causing the two vehicles to collided. Carlisle’s vehicle was sent into the curb on Highway 62, Pinilla’s vehicle was spun into the intersection and came to rest on its wheels near the southeast corner. Pinilla was able to exit her vehicle and was uninjured, Carlisle and Vasquez had to be extricated from their vehicle with assistance from San Bernardino County Fire. Carlisle and Vasquez were transported to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the collision, which is under investigation.
