Theatre 29 holding auditions for musical “Pinocchio” sequel Mar. 20

Theatre 29 will be holding auditions for Disney’s “My Son Pinocchio.” The show, G rated and appropriate for all ages, is the musical story of Pinocchio as told by the old puppeteer who created him, Geppetto. It takes up where “Pinocchio” ends – after Geppetto’s wish for a real boy has been granted.

Suddenly, the old puppeteer finds himself faced with the daunting task of raising a son. Overhearing Geppetto’s concerns, Pinocchio runs away to become a star in a traveling show. The audience is then invited to follow Geppetto on his heart-warming, comical and musical journey to find his son. The show features an original score by Stephen Schwartz, the Grammy Award-winning composer of “Wicked,” and includes such songs as “When You Wish Upon a Star” and “I’ve Got No Strings.”

The show is under the direction of DTL Award winner Gary Daigneault, musical director is Bianca Stoker and Lisa Goldberg the choreographer.

Auditions are set for Monday, March 20, at 6 p.m. at Theatre 29, 73637 Sullivan Road in Twentynine Palms. Auditions are open to a wide range of singers, dancers, and actors, with both adult and children’s roles available.
