Theatre 29 announces 2025 Summer Youth Theatre dates and shows

Theatre 29’s wildly successful Summer Youth Theatre program announces their 2025 program and dates. The program will run from June 23rd though July 27th, 2025, culminating in four performances of the Broadway Musicals, “Willy Wonka the Musical, Kids”, and “Willy Wonka the Musical, Jr.”, on July 24, 25, 26, and 27, 2025.

Program Director Lisa Hodgson said The Youth Theatre Program and the performances will all be held at the Theater 29 complex at 73637 Sullivan Road in Twentynine Palms. This year’s program is split into two age groups: 7- to 10-year-old “Juniors” and the 11- to 17-year-old “Seniors” who will learn a wide variety of theatrical skills from auditioning to performance and everything in between for five weeks, Monday through Friday (excepting July 4th). The program will be capped at 25 students from each age group. Juniors will meet from 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and Seniors from 1:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

The cost for the Program is $75.00 per student. Scholarships are also available thanks to the City of Twentynine Palms PAAC, The Rotary Club of 29 Palms, the Kiwanis Club of 29 Palms, and donations from Kip Otis-Diehl, the Estelle Harris family trust and private donations.

Registration applications are available now at theatre29.org. The first 25 applications received in each age group with payment will be accepted (If approved)

Charlie Thomas
Charlie Thomas is a local theatrical director, actor, producer, stage designer and playwright with over thirty-five years’ experience in both professional and non-professional live theatre, film, television, and radio. His pedigree includes most of the major theatrical companies in the Coachella Valley and Morongo Basin including Theatre 29, Hi-Desert Playhouse, Groves Cabin Theatre, Palm Canyon Theatre and College of the Desert, to name a very few. Charlie is an active member of the greater desert performing arts scene. He currently serves as Vice-President on the Theatre 29 board of directors. He also serves on the board of the Desert Theatre League, a live performance support organization that provides judging and awards for theatrical and dance excellence for over 39 organizations. He is also a founding panelist of the Alliance of Desert Theatres which formed during the COVID-19 pandemic to network with performing arts houses all over the desert for support and networking while the industry was shutdown. During his theatrical career, Charlie has won many Desert Theatre League performance awards as well as their “Sidney Harmon” award which recognizes honorees for exhibiting theatrical excellence. Charlie Thomas joined Z107.7 in April 2020 and has greatly come to enjoy the everchanging scope of the work. He has also enjoyed the opportunity to share his breadth of knowledge and experience as Z107.7’s Entertainment Reporter.
