In the wake of the recent turmoil unfolding at Yucca Valley High School, Morongo Teachers Association President Kojo McCallum submitted a stern letter to District Superintendent Tom Baumgarten on Wednesday, February 19, outlining the Teacher Union’s overwhelming disapproval of the leadership of Yucca Valley High School Principal Justin Monical and Assistant Principal Chris Fore. Reporter Andrew Dieleman outlines the specifics of that letter…
The Morongo Teachers Association expressed deep trouble and concern over what they call the “leadership failures” of Yucca Valley High School Principal Justin Monical and Assistant Principal Chris Fore.
The letter to Superintendent Tom Baumgarten itemizes 31 individual complaints; including concerns over student safety, bullying, lack of student discipline, counselors being placed on leave, overloaded class sizes, increased student vaping, and even death threats made against teachers by students.
MTA is demanding immediate action from the school district to address the outlined problems, or Monical and Fore will face a “vote of no confidence” from MTA.
Superintendent Baumgarten told Z107.7 news that the school district is taking the letter very seriously and that he will be working directly with McCallum; speaking with staff, faculty, and leadership at Yucca Valley High School at 4 p.m. on March 11 to determine the extent of the listed problems and proposing appropriate solutions.
