On Sunday (August 7) morning, Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 7000 block of Nablee Road in Wonder Valley, after a family member was unable to reach Daniella Hess Prieto by phone and requested a welfare check.
When deputies arrived, they said they discovered a male lying in the road, suffering from a gunshot wound. The man, a 56 year-old male resident of Wonder Valley was pronounced deceased at the scene, and his identity is being withheld until his family can be notified of his death.
Deputies reported that Hess Prieto was not at the location. Investigators with the Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail said that Hess Prieto, a 40 year-old resident of Wonder Valley was the suspect in the shooting death and a warrant for her arrest was issued.
Yesterday (August 9), officers with the Chula Vista Police Department said they located Hess Prieto at a motel in Chula Vista, where they say she was taken into custody without incident.
She was arrested for suspicion of murder, and returned to San Bernardino county where she was booked into jail.
