Have you noticed the abundance of purple glass down here in the hi desert? If you’ve wondered why the southwest of the US is particularly peppered with the pale plum-pigmented pieces of glass – the Twentynine Palms Historical Society is hosting an event that will tell you what it is, how it happens and where you can find it.
The program tonight is being led by Cathy Snodgrass, who has spent the last 15 years researching the beautiful piece of desert history. You’ll learn the history, the important clues to look for in glassware; how to identify patterns and some of the terminology to aid in your search and things to watch for when you shop online.
The program starts at 7PM tonight but the doors to the Old Schoolhouse Museum open at 6:15PM.
They are located at 6760 National Park Drive in Twentynine Palms.
Upcoming 2024 programs at the Old Schoolhouse Museum:
- January 12, “Palm Springs Aerial Tramway” (the beginnings of and opposition to building the tramway) by Steve Lech
- February 9, How To Have A Deeper Spiritual Relationship with the Desert” (lessons from Native Peoples around the world) by Morgan Phoenix
