Another round of Starlink satellites is set for launch from the Vandenburg Space Force Base tonight at 10:40. The satellite launches will be the fifth this month for a total of 37 SpaceX launches this year – already outpacing their launch schedule last year.
If you haven’t seen a SpaceX Starlink launch and you don’t know what you are looking at, it can be confusing at first. Previous launches have had over 50 satellites suddenly appear in a long dotted line, appearing like a moving line of space invaders. You don’t need to be alarmed as their origin is from earth, and from an earthling named Elon Musk.
The Starlink satellites network is meant to provide high-speed internet wirelessly around the world – there are over 3000 satellites already in orbit and the service is here in the morongo basin. The Satellite launches have been seen over our skies before – and you may catch this one tonight as the scheduled launch may put the satellites in our view around 10:40 PM.
If you don’t catch them tonight or don’t feel like craning your neck skyward – you can watch a livestream on SpaceX’s Youtube channel.
