COUNTY PROBATION AND SHELTER COURT WORKING TO HELP HOMELESS FIND SHELTER

0

Homeless people with unresolved misdemeanor cases and outstanding fines are finding help in Shelter Court, a program hosted by the County Probation Department.

Shelter Court assists homeless people and helps them find shelter and other vital resources within the community. The program also helps to remove common roadblocks to progress such as releasing holds on driver’s licenses. This allows participants to move ahead with a clean slate and the program also provides vital benefits to those in need. During a recent Shelter Court, Judge Ingrid Uhler presided while probation officers assisted individuals in obtaining valuable resources. During the event, 26 participants were provided services resulting in 78 cases being resolved.

Additional Shelter Courts are being planned throughout the County.
