Second Saturday Art Crawl tonight in Joshua Tree

The second Saturday art crawl is happening this evening (January 13), and though it’s a smaller than usual event, it’s going to be a great one.

Opening tonight at Hey There Projects is a new show featuring work from two artists. The two dimensional paper artwork and paintings from Maya Ruiz, which showcase mythological and classical imagery, will be paired with geometric ceramic work from Brian Bosworth. The show is called “Flip Flop,” and an opening reception will be held at Hey There tonight from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Hey There Projects is located at 61675 Twentynine Palms Highway in Downtown Joshua Tree.

Beatnik Lounge is debuting a new show called “Faces & Friends: an exhibition of people and portraits.” This show features two- and three-dimensional portraits of local people made by local artists. Come by to peruse the work of Paul Donaldson, Snake Jagger, Janis Commentz, Kat Johnson, Constance Walsh, Teddy Quinn, Chloe Allred and Bonnie Brady, and you might see some renditions of familiar faces. There will be an opening recpetion from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Beatnik Lounge, located at 61597 Twentynine Palms Hwy in Downtown Joshua Tree.

Owing to an illness contracted by their gallery owner, La Matador has postponed tonight’s opening until February.
