Second Saturday Art Crawl in Joshua Tree tonight

La Matadora Gallery is showcasing artisanal belt buckles that were big in the 2000s, and like so many things from that era, are officially back in style. The metal buckles makde by artist Mikal Winn could be seen hugging the hips of Halle Bery, Britney Spears, and Lucy Liu in the 2000s, and Winn has a big batch of brand new buckles ready to make their debut tonight. Winn, a resident of the Mojave Desert, also makes necklaces, earrings, bracelets, rings, as well as glittering 3-D sculptures. The gallery will also feature another installment of “DEFILED”, a group show in which local artists add on to artwork purchased at a thrift store. La Matadora will be open from 6 p.m to 9 p.m., and feature live music from Bombshelter Alley at 7 p.m. and Los Poncho Tones at 8 p.m.

Hey There Projects continues their summer group show, called “Plus One.” Featuring paintings and three-dimensional work from artists like Kime Buzzelli, Owen Smith, Itzel Rios-Ellis and more, you can pop in to see the work in the gallery or pick up something unusual in the shop.
