Second Saturday Art Crawl in Joshua Tree tonight (10/11)

Coyote Little gallery presents “Desert Daredevils,” featuring works from Kate McCabe and Tonya Van Parys from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

From her sculptural Doomsday Optimist cakes to her legendary Gold Toof Marshmallow, McCabe’s art explores the chaotic beauty of human communication and life’s upheavals. Tonya Van Parys brings a playful edge to her work, blending tongue-in-cheek proverbial phrases with dynamic folk art-inspired symbolism. Her creations invite viewers into a world of hidden satire and craftsmanship. And on the stage, in conjunction with Art Tours After Dark, musical guests Landroid, Karma Dealers, and Earth Girl Helen Brown will be performing. Coyote Little is located in the Art Queen complex.

Hey There Projects presents Deadly Prey: Movie Posters from Ghana. Featuring various Ghana artists, these notorious movie posters depict American films in more sensational, hyper-violent, absurd imagery, often with scenarios that don’t actually appear in the films, making each one of these savage but unmistakable pieces singular works onto themselves. Opening reception from 6:00-9:00 p.m.

La Matadora Gallery continues their Art Tour exhibit Beneditos: Cabin Blessings by gallery owner Colleena which contain horseshoes, good luck charms, and protective amulets encased in trivets, then cured in resin, each with its own original poem. The show also features art by Alea Bone and Diane Bombshelter of the local band Bombshelter Alley. Reception from 5:00-9:00 p.m.
