SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON REPS TALK SUMMER OUTTAGES ON Z1077 UP-CLOSE SHOW
Southern California Edison Senior Advisor Jeff Monford and Government Relations Manager Jennifer Cusack were the guests on Z107.7’s “Up-Close Show” on Friday (July 15). They spoke to Gary Daigneault about the the work that the utility is doing in the hi-desert, converting the power system to “covered conductor” style lines that will withstand dust and debris that can cause fires. In a week several outages planned across the Morongo Basin, Cusack spoke about the timing of the work, saying planned summer outages are inevitable.
“Just so everyone knows, we are doing work every day of the year, for the most part. whether it be maintenance outages or other planned work, we’re doing so much work that there is no way to do this work in just one period of the year.”
Cusack said that, while the maintenance work is important, the power takes into consideration the possiblity of extreme temperatures.
“If it goes over 113 degrees, we will start cancelling outtages in the summer. So we do take weather into account.”
Z1077 news will be continuing our coverage of outages planned for Twentynine Palms in the coming week, along with ways to stay cool while the power grid is shut down.
