Respect, Connect and Protect our National Conservation Lands

If you are familiar with my friends Smokey Bear or Woodsy Owl, you may have to look a little lower to find the latest mascot that’s here to help remember visitors to protect our valuable conservation lands.

A “spokespebble” is leading a new campaign to help us remember to Respect, Connect and Protect our National Conservation Lands

The Conservation Lands Foundation has launched a new campaign to help visitors to popular BLM lands remember to respect and connect with the lands we recreate on. The national campaign wants to help visitors be prepared for visiting national conservation lands, which takes a little more planning than other parks and natural areas.

As the country’s newest designation of protected public lands, National Conservation Lands are among the most essential and spectacular natural, cultural and archaeological places in the country. They are managed by the Bureau of Land Management, many of these protected lands are beyond and between the National Parks and include:

  • National Monuments
  • National Conservation Areas
  • Wilderness Areas
  • Wild and Scenic Rivers
  • National Scenic and Historic Trails

Most of these wild areas don’t have cell coverage, water stations, or rangers to help visitors if needed, and a lack of awareness and preparation can lead to people getting lost, stranded, or worse.

You can peep this precocious pebble and learn more about how to prepare for traveling to National Conservation Lands by visiting respectconnectprotect.org
