Kids of all ages love to play with toys, and visitors to Joshua Tree National Park are no exception. There are restrictions, however, to what can be used in the park. An example is remote-controlled vehicles, such as cars, trucks, helicopters, airplanes, and drones. These toys are not natural to the park and the wildlife become scared and stressed by the presence of them. The animals see them as predators, which changes their behavior. They may leave a favorite watering hole, and not come back, because of an encounter with a remote control toy.
The noise such toys make is also out of place here in the park. Not only do animals find it disturbing, many humans enjoy the quiet and solitude that a machine like this can disrupt.
Help make everyone’s experience here in JTNP a little better by leaving remote control toys at home. For more information on how to enjoy our beautiful desert park, call 760-367-5500.
