REACH OUT MORONGO BASIN HOSTS BIRTHDAY PARTY FUNDRAISER

In hosting a 60th birthday party for their board president, Reach Out Morongo Basin is hoping to generate much-needed donations. Reporter Heather Clisby has a rundown of this weekend’s event …
Is he an actor? A reporter? A musician? An editor? Turns out, Kurt Schauppner is all those things, as well as the board president for Reach Out Morongo Basin (ROMB), an all-volunteer caregiving program for seniors and the disabled. In honor of Schauppner’s 60thbirthday, ROMB is hosting a celebratory fundraiser and the public is invited.

The party will be held on Saturday, August 20, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Twentynine Palms Senior Center, 6539 Adobe Road, across from the fire station. Like any birthday celebration, there will be food, music, and games but party attendees will also be invited to donate to ROMB.

Schauppner is the editor of the Desert Trail, as well as ROMB’S longest serving board member with over 20 years of volunteer service. It was Schauppner’s explicit wish to share his birthday with an organization that helps individuals with a variety of tasks such as home repairs, yard work, transportation to/from medical appointments, and shopping.
