Proposed hotel “Compass Yacht Club” holding Town Hall meeting in Joshua Tree this Wednesday (12/17)
The Compass Yacht Club is the name of a project proposed for a plot of land just off Border Avenue and Twentynine Palms Highway here in Joshua Tree. The 58 room nautical-themed boutique hotel will feature a public restaurant and bar, wellness center, pool and flexible indoor/outdoor spaces.
That’s taken directly from a flyer that has been circulating about a Town Hall meeting at the Joshua Tree Community Center that is scheduled for this Wednesday, December 17th at 5:00 p.m.

Expected at the meeting: the developers will present their initial plans, walk through site renderings, discuss anticipated community benefits and answer questions from residents and local businesses.
The proposed project is in very early stages – it’s not even on the county’s Land Use Services website yet. However, the proposed project has a website of it’s own where you can see renderings and photos of the salvaged sand-locked yachts that will potentially surround the paranormal-shaped lobby and clubhouse.

The renderings also show an inviting pool and a lush green lawn radiating out from the saucer-shaped building.
The site of the proposed “upscale, experiential” hotel will be at the southern border of a 23 acre lot right off Twentynine Palms Highway. The website touts a 10-minute walk to downtown Joshua Tree, but doesn’t say if they will also provide the pedestrian paths to safely take hotel guests along the busy highway.
We’ll be there to ask that question and hear the community’s reactions to the proposed project this Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. at the Joshua Tree Community Center, located at 6171 Sunburst Avenue.
The meeting is open to the public.
