This is an El Nino year and long-range forecasts indicate that Southern Californians would be smart to prepare for a cooler and wetter than normal late fall and winter.
The County Fire Protection District will be at the Joshua Basin Water District’s offices this Saturday (September 30, 2023) beginning at 3 p.m. with free sandbags and tips on making the best use of them. Learn the two-person quick fill technique, how much sand to use and why, and how to reinforce and stack sandbags fast.
Free sandbags will be distributed until 4 p.m.; limit ten per household.
The Joshua Basin Water District is on Chollita Road off Park Boulevard in Joshua Tree.
