Power pole replacement to blame for shaky TV signal

Some folks in the Morongo Basin reported that the over-the-air signal that usually serves the hi desert with television channels had grown intermittent lately – and a few days ago it gave out completely.

County Supervisor Dawn Rowe told Z107.7 news that the storms in late February and early March damaged a pole that provides power to the antenna and equipment on Pinto Mountain East of Twentynine Palms that serves one of the 4 TV districts that we have here in the Morongo valley basin. The signal was then run on a backup generator until the power pole could be repaired – due to the remote location of the pole, it had to be flown in by helicopter. The pole was fixed and power was restored to the antenna.

While Z107.7 FM has no control over your television signal – we do know a great alternative the next time your TV goes on the blink – flip that radio dial to 107.7FM and we’ll keep you up to date on what’s happening in the Morongo Basin.
