PIONEER DAYS EVENTS START TOMORROW IN TWENTYNINE PALMS

The schedule has been set for Pioneer Days in Twentynine Palms. The carnival in Luckie Park will open 4 p.m. Thursday, October 16, and Friday, October 17. The Little Miss and Master will be held at the Elk’s Lodge at 6 p.m. Thursday. Theatre 29’s presentation of “Young Frankenstein” plays Friday and Saturday evenings, starting at 7 p.m. The festivities really kick off on Saturday, October 18, starting with a pancake breakfast at 6 a.m. at the Twentynine Palms Fire Station on Adobe Road. The Grand Marshals will be recognized at 8. The parade starts at 10 a.m. The carnival opens at noon Saturday and Sunday. The entertainment starts on the Z107.7 entertainment stage at Luckie Park at noon Saturday, with The Whiskey Blues Band, Desert Sol, and the MarineSandpiper. The Old Timers will gather at 1 p.m. at the Old Schoolhouse Museum. From 5 to 9 is the annual chili dinner at the 29 Palms Art Gallery. The Bucky Bucklin arm wrestling contest starts at 7 p.m. at the Twentynine Palms Youth Club. On Sunday, throw some horseshoes at the Elk Lodge, starting at 9 a.m. The Palms n Paws Pet Parade starts at 9:30 in Luckie Park. The Kiwanis Club is holding a Lego design challenge in Luckie Park, starting at 1 p.m. And don’t forget the outhouse races, starting at 2 p.m. For more information, call the Twentynine Palms Chamber of Commerce at 760-367-3445.
