Pejman Elahi found Guilty in 8 of 9 counts, including attempted murder

Listen Here:

The jury in the Pejman Elahi trial returned a Guilty verdict in 8 of the 9 counts against him. Count 1, 2 and 3 were the most serious of the charges – Attempted murder and assault with a firearm.

As the verdict was read, Elahi could be seen gently shaking his head in disagreement with each count. In the first three counts there were additional considerations against Elahi – possession and discharge of a firearm, as well as discharging a firearm at another person. All of these considerations were returned as True.

The trial took about 2 weeks and ended on Wednesday after Prosecuting Attorney Heather Razook and Defending Attorney John-Paul Serrao’s closing statements. The court handed the case to the jury for their consideration at 1:55PM, and broke for the day at 5 – and convened on Thursday morning at 11:20AM to read their unanimous decision.

A day was set for going over Elahi’s prior convictions for May 9th with sentencing expected after.

Reported earlier on 4/27:

The verdict in the Pejman Elahi trial is expected to come down as early as today.

Closing arguments were heard by the jury yesterday after The State of California’s prosecuting Attorney Heather Razook rested after calling a roster of witnesses that focused on the facts of the two incidents in late 2022 that left one man with 3 gunshots wounds, and one delivery driver with a close call.

Defense attorney John-Paul Serrao called no witnesses after prosecution rested – Pejman Elahi himself was not expected to take the stand. Closing arguments by Serrao focused on discrepancies in the case – notably a lack of fingerprints on shell casings found at the scene of the attempted murder, as well as what he characterizes as an incomplete physical description of the shooter.

We’ll report the verdict as soon as it’s read – along with a complete recap of the trial of the Wonder Valley man who is charged with 9 counts, including assault with a firearm and attempted murder.
