No Fees at Joshua Tree National Park for National Public Lands Day

Today is National Public Lands Day – and if you are lucky enough to be listening to this in the beautiful morongo basin then you are in the perfect place to celebrate as Joshua Tree National Park has free admission all day.

The national event was started in 1994 and celebrates the connection between people and the wide-open spaces in their community – and it encourages the use of natural public lands for education, recreation, and the health benefits of getting outside.

If you don’t want to head into the park, there are plenty of public lands here in the hi desert waiting to be explored and tended to – some of my favorite hikes are on Mojave Desert Land Trust land right here in the heart of Joshua Tree. You the national park and the mojave desert land trust if you need some ideas for celebrating our public lands.

Wherever you end up this weekend, be sure to take some time to look around you and appreciate the wide open desert that we are lucky enough to be surrounded by.
