Native American Heritage Month Foodways event on Sunday 11/20

November is Native American Heritage Month. This Sunday The Native American Land Conservancy and the Mojave Desert Land Trust invite the public to a fascinating afternoon exploring the importance of Native foodways.

Through songs, a presentation, and food tasting, visitors will learn about the role of Native foods in Indigenous lifeways.

Naturalist Sienna Thomas will share traditions, how communities have been impacted, and what efforts are underway to strengthen the resilience of Native food systems.

Sienna Thomas is an enrolled member of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community and has resided on the Torres Martinez Desert Cahuilla Reservation for 30 years.

The program is organized by the Native American Land Conservancy and hosted by the Mojave Desert Land Trust. It takes place this Sunday, Nov 20th from 4 to 6PM at MDLT headquarters.
