After the cancellation of last week’s regularly scheduled meeting, The Morongo Valley Community Services District will hold a special 6pm meeting tonight in Covington Park’s multi-purpose room.
Tonight’s MVCSD special meeting will be held in good faith of Fire Commissioner Michael Emory attendance after over three months of absence resulting in the Board lacking quorum in the wake of two other board member’s resignations.
For tonight’s agenda, the MVCSD Board of Directors will discuss reinstating their legal counsel agreement with Brunick, McElahaney, and Kennedy in the wake of Best, Best, and Krieger’s resignation last May.
The Board will discuss, review, and approve the Smith Marion and Co. audit engagement letter, as well as the annual resolution for fire suppression and the agreement for collection of special taxes, fees, and assessments for the fiscal year of 2023-24.
Yesterday, Z107.7 obtained email correspondence from Director Michael Emory saying that, despite his specific request for a meeting to be held today, June 30, he will not be attending tonight’s meeting of the Morongo Valley CSD.
He claims that due to hostility from Morongo Valley residents, he will not attend any specially scheduled meetings, and made assurances that he will attend the next regularly scheduled meeting on July 19. It has been more than three months since the Morongo Valley CSD has met, owing largely to Director Emory’s absences, essential district and Morongo Valley Fire Department business continues to go unaddressed.
