Last night MUSD Board of Trustees held their first meeting of 2023 at Joshua Tree Elementary. Assignment reporter Gabriel Hart was in attendance and has the recap for us today.
Last night’s MUSD board meeting began with special recognition for the district’s Instructional Media Specialist Mary Dean for her essential work in family tech support, and more recent work with the district librarian.
Jessica Berry, of Nigro and Nigro Auditors, presented a clean and positive Annual Financial Audit report for 2022. Assistant Superintendent Amy Woods gave a brief video presentation on the MUSD/CMC Coding Club, where junior high and high school students learn both coding and robotics by interfacing with their college mentors under the direction of teacher Jim Powell.
Superintendent Vargas took the honor to proclaim January as School Board Recognition Month, presenting the official document to all present trustees. The document concludes, “I urge all community members to join me in recognizing the dedication and hard work of local school board members and in working with them to create an education system that meets the needs of our children.”
Stacy Smalling introduced new Oasis Elementary principal Dr. Jessica Miller to the board, before Trustees approved all action items on the agenda.
