MUSD/CMC joint meeting tonight at 4 PM, regular MUSD meeting at 6 PM

The Morongo Unified School District Board of Trustees will hold their regular 6 PM meeting tonight at Joshua Tree Elementary, after their special joint meeting with Copper Mountain College at 4 PM.

For the special joint meeting, also held at JT Elementary, the 2024 CMC Greenleaf Scholarship recipient will be recognized, followed by updates on early college and dual enrollment, as well as a CMC Counseling update.

For the regular 6 PM meeting, Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services Amy Woods will be recognizing Onaga Elementary third grader Penelope Lopez, who wrote a book she will be presenting to Board members.

After conducting a public hearing to review Interfund Borrowing for the 2024-25 budget, the Board will proclaim May 1, 2024, as School Principals’ Day, May 8th as Day of the Teacher, and the week of May 20-24 as Classified School Employee Week.

Student use of technology, including Artificial Intelligence, will be the focus of three policy updates on academic honesty, homework and makeup work, and student assessment. Additionally, there will be a policy updated to authorize the staff training in use of technology to improve education, including the detection of plagiarism and sensitivity to potential discrimination from algorithmic bias.

The Board is requested to approve the Memorandum of Understanding for Layoff Effects between MUSD and the California School Employees Association and its Chapter 29.
