Morongo Valley CSD meeting canceled again due to lack of quorum

For the second month in a row, the MVCSD board meeting will be canceled for this Wednesday, May 17th, due to what the Board’s Finance Director Johnny Tolbert has called a “lack of quorum.”

This occurs in the wake of last month’s meeting cancelation for the same lack of quorum due to the absence of President Henning, Vice President James Whitney, and Fire Commissioner Michael Emory. Since Henning’s resignation last month, current acting President Whitney canceled this Wednesday’s meeting due to him and Emory being advised not to attend.

Statement from James Whitney:

“Unfortunately, due to the toxic and hostile behavior, including but not limited to vandalism and threats of violence, wherein both Past-President Jennifer Henning and I have recently filed police reports, Director Emory and I have been advised not to attend the non-mandatory, optional May 17th Board Meeting by a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputy and several other County officials, and to instead do as they have advised, and attend only the required June 21st Board Meeting.

As per SB No. 135 CHAPTER 249 SECTION 61044, “A BOARD OF DIRECTORS SHALL HOLD A REGULAR MEETING AT LEAST ONCE EVERY THREE MONTHS.”

Therefore, the CSD will be 100% compliant, as long as we hold the required Board Meeting on June 21st, as our last Regular Board Meeting was held on March 15th.  In that there would not be a quorum for a June 21st Board Meeting, a Notice of Meeting Cancellation was disseminated to the Community.  I am both hopeful and optimistic that by the time The District’s required June 21st Board Meeting rolls around, cooler heads will have prevailed, and that the vandalism, threats of violence, toxicity, bullying, intimidation, slanderous and defamatory comments will have abated, wherein, collectively, we can all begin moving those proverbial mountains once again to make Morongo Valley better than ever.”
